Brown’s Short Break Respite recognizes that each person has a right to respect as a unique individual, regardless of status, sex, age, religion, race, culture, sexual orientation, language, ability or contribution to society.
We recognize the intrinsic value of each person as an individual, their independence and the rights and needs for equality and quality of life.
1. You will be assisted to live in the way you choose.
2. You will be informed of the options available and given the opportunity to make informal choices and risks, if that is what you wish.
You have a right to:
1. Privacy and entitled to expect that information about you will be treated confidentially.
2. Complain without fear or recrimination.
3. Be consulted about your individual care package and to expect that your needs will be regularly reviewed.
4. Expect continuity of care to be provided by a small group of care workers, we will do all we can to achieve this.
5. Expect that care services will be provided by trained, caring, competent individuals. As a responsible employer, we will endeavour to ensure this and further that staff are supervised, supported and receive regular appraisals.
6. All those involved in the delivery of care, you, your partner, relatives and friends will be involved in decisions about your care package if you wish so.
7. You will be encouraged to communicate with those who organize your care in any way you prefer.
8. The health and safety of you and your carers is of paramount importance to us.
9. Remain in your own home for as long as you wish. We will do all that we can to support this right.
